Today

PHIL BIGGS SAVES THE DAY!

Phil Biggs has kindly stepped in to paint for us, as the planned demonstrator Keith Hornblower, has had to cancel his visit unexpectedly. Phil, also a watercolour artist, loves to paint the light and atmosphere of the British landscape. He enjoys passing on his enthusiasm and knowledge to others and seeing them succeed. So let's […]

AGM swiftly followed by Barry Saunders who will lighten things up with an illustrated talk about the Austrian tradition of the Cows Down Festival.

The AGM is a necessary part of running the Society, but we like to keep it brief! Barry Saunders will follow the proceedings and will give an illustrated talk about his holiday to Austria to see the traditional and colourful Cow's Down Festival. Barry will show more pictures-to-music sequences in his usual engaging way. Paintings […]

SUSAN GRAY

Susan is a land and seascape artist. She works plein-air, creating small studies and sketches to develop into larger paintings or painting directly on large boards on the beach or in the landscape. She draws her inspiration from the West Country, Cumbria and her home in the Chilterns. She often paints at high tide, the […]

MIKE ROLLINS RETURNS which means another fun-fuelled meeting when Mike will be getting out his loyalty cards, palette knives and kitchen roll. ….there may be some acrylic paint involved too!!

Last year's acrylic demonstration saw Mike painting the dramatic Chrysler Building landscape. Using some random items that one may not associate with fine art, Mike wowed us with the method and the outcome. He will be bringing acrylic paint again, together with his lighthearted and informative approach.

PHIL BIGGS returns with his watercolour magic.

To ring the changes, we have a watercolour demonstration from Phil Biggs today. He loves to paint en plein air and describes himself as a traditional landscape watercolourist.

FRANK WOODGATE

The very distinguished lecturer in Art History, Frank Woodgate, joins us again. His illustrated lectures are always detailed and thorough with all of the scandal included!

KEITH HORNBLOWER

Watercolour will be in the spotlight at October's meeting and it's sure to be a lively presentation from returning artist Keith Hornblower. It will be all about the light and shade as Keith believes the juxtaposition these two elements is crucial for creating dramatic effects in paintings. Keith has certainly achieved that with this atmospheric […]

PETER KEEGAN returns

Our regular friend Peter Keegan is booked to delight us with his impressionist style of Acrylic painting. There is always something to learn from this seasoned professional.
